Recommended Car Maintenance Schedule

Each automotive manufacturer provides a recommended or required maintenance schedule with your owners manual, or even possibly on their websites. The following maintenance schedule is only meant to supplement the schedule provided by your car's manufacturer - always be sure to consult your owner's manual and mechanic when determining what kind of maintenance schedule is best for your vehicle.

Every 3,000 miles or 3 months:

  • Replace the engine oil and filter

Every 7,500 miles or 6 months:

  • Replace the engine oil and filter
  • Service the battery

Every 15,000 miles or 1 year:

  • Replace the engine oil and filter
  • Flush and refill transmission fluid
  • Replace the transmission filter
  • Replace air and fuel filters
  • Replace the PCV and breather element
  • Replace the carbon canister filter
  • Service the battery
  • Tire rotation and balance
  • Service the brakes

Every 30,000 miles or 2 years:

  • Replace the engine oil and filter
  • Flush and replace the coolant
  • Flush and refill the brake fluid
  • Replace the air and fuel filters
  • Replace the carbon canister filter
  • Replace the PCV and breather element
  • Replace the distributor cap, rotor, and wires
  • Replace the spark plugs
  • Service the battery
  • Tire rotation and balance
  • Replace the differential/transfer case fluid
  • Service the brakes

Every 60,000 miles:

  • Replace the engine oil and filter
  • Flush and replace the coolant
  • Flush and refill the brake fluid
  • Flush and refill the power steering fluid
  • Replace the air and fuel filters
  • Replace the carbon canister filter
  • Replace the PCV and breather element
  • Replace the distributor cap, rotor, and wires
  • Replace the spark plugs
  • Replace the timing belt
  • Service the battery
  • Replace the differential/transfer case fluid
  • Service the brakes
